LECTURE 39 | The Non-Identification with the Things of Everyday Life and Why do we Judge the Others?

Text...

When one gets identified, the consciousness falls asleep. The vigil is lost, we must comprehend this.

Life its like a movie, it’s a movie, naturally composed by many pictures and scenes. It is not convenient in any way to get identified with any scene, with any imagen, with any appearance, because everything passes: people pass, ideas pass, things pass, all the world is illusory. Any scene of life even if it is very difficult passes and stays back in the past.

What should catch our interest is that which is called the “BEIGN”, the consciousness. There it is the fundamental, because the BEIGN does not pass: The Being is the Being…

When we get identified with the distinct comedies, drama and tragedies of life is obvious that we fall in to the fascination and the unconsciousness of the psychological dream. That’s the reason why we shouldn´t identify ourselves with any comedy, drama or tragedy in life. Because even if it is very serious it passes: There is a common saying that says: “Nothing goes on forever” so everything is illusory and transient.

In life one encounters with some difficult problems. It happens that sometimes you find no way out or the solution to the problem and this one becomes enormous, monstrous, gigantic before our mind then you succumb before the concerns and say: “how am I going to do, what am I going to do” you don´t find scape and the problem becomes monstrous, enormous, gigantic as we continue to think about it. But it comes up the day that if we face the problem as it is, meaning by this, if we take the bull by the horns, we see that the problem turns into nothing is destroyed by itself, it is of an illusory nature.

It is fundamental to not get identified with any circumstance of life, when we don´t get identified with any problem, when we remain alert, we discover within the problem our own psychological defects.

Normally we see that all problems obey to fear; the psychological “I” of fear keep problems alive. We are scared about life, scared about death, scared about what they say, gossip, slander, misery, hunger, nudity, jail. We are scared of everything, and because of this, problems become insoluble and stronger.

In an economic problem, what do we have? Bankruptcy, or that we have to pay any determined debt, because if we don´t pay we will go to jail, etc. In a family problem, what do we have? What they say, the forked tongue, the scandal, interests, etc. But if the Self of fear is eliminated, everything vanishes, becomes nothing.

If one never gets identified with any event, problem or situation, is able to always be alert and vigilant. And during that state we can discover our psychological defects. Discovered defect must be comprehended and then eliminated.

The worst circumstances in life turn out to be the ones that contribute to our inner growth. During the good times we usually get less progress for our Inner Work.

When one gets identified, can´t identify the psychological defect that is manifesting. Normally these defects are projected upon the others, they seek the identification within us so that we don´t identify them, in so that we don´t eliminate them.

For the esoteric Work it is fundamental to start an stage of constant fight to not get identified with any element, anything, whatever it could be. If a person gets identified with the alcohol, then ends up drinking; if gets identified with the gluttony ends up eating and so on with everything that presents.

An identification with the anger makes our consciousness to fall so asleep, that we could remain several days without going back to the psychological work. It is necessary to fight each moment to not let ourselves fall into de identification

Why do we judge others?

Now let´s study this other aspect that keeps us from awaking the consciousness. It is necessary to know that we don’t know ourselves and that the others in the exterior world work as mirrors to see ourselves reflected.

If each time that appears someone with a defect, and at the same time we are observing ourselves, we see that something is moving inside and doesn´t want to be observed. That´s why it reacts and tries to make us judge what the other persons are doing, to get our consciousness asleep and keep us from discovering it.

In a given moment, what bothers us about someone is something that we carry occult within us and we don´t like to see it outside so that is way we judge them.

In other reactions we could discover that we have internally the opposite defect to the one that we observe externally; For instance, if I see someone that is wasting his money and I internally have the Self of Stinginess, this defect reacts when sees its opposite outside. Then I feel dislike

The key of everything is to always direct the observation to the inner world, see what we feel, what we think, what we desire, the way that we are reacting, the inner chatter that takes place etc.

As we observe the inner world, we make discoveries and become able to start eliminating what we get to comprehend. But if the identification takes place, the next step will be the judging. Right at the moment that we get identified we start judging the other person. We judge the psychological defect that we have projected. As a result, the consciousness falls asleep and the Critic Judgement is lost.

The Critical Judgement is the ability that the consciousness has            to comprehend its own psychological defects, but this capacity is lost as soon as we judge others.

Let´s reflect on the following: If we don´t know ourselves, how can we think that we could know the others?

That is why we judge any appearance or any action that we in others. But we should never get identified with the appearances because the appearances deceive. We see a woman doing a certain thing and     we say “Ah, she is a whore!” “This other one is a…” “That one is an effeminate” “That other one is a thief” etc…

But who is judging? If we observe the finger that is pointing, there are another three that are pointing back to ourselves… Our own psychological defects are the ones talking in the outer what we have at the inner. We need to realize that what we are judging in others is a simple appearance. We don´t know the psychological reasons that force a person to act on a certain way, simply because we see an external event and judge the external appearance.

Therefore the judge that we issue is a mistaken judge, and what happens with that mistaken judge? That judge is a slander, which ends up originating a bad relationship between the person we judged and ourselves. In esoterism what really matters is the way that we are internally related to each other. If I judge someone I become his enemy.

Let´s continue analyzing: when we criticize and slander a person it means that we got identified, lost the possibility of self-observing, self-judging and self-prosecuting our own psychological defect.

Self-criticism is fundamental; it allows us to see our own psychological defect reflected there, in front, in the other person. If we become aware that we have that  defect, we can ask for its death and therefore its elimination.

It is important to start a fight to stop judging others; that fight will lead us to that what is called the Awakening of the Consciousness and will take place in two fronts:

NOT GETTING IDENTIFIED

NOT JUDGING OTHERS

If we start to combat these two errors the consciousness will not fall asleep and we will recover the Critical Judge. When one truly recovers the Critical Judge everyone will serve as a mirror to work on the own psychological defects and will progress a lot with the ongoing death.

A person loses too much time judging others. In the esoteric work when a Master is judged that person gets stagnated. If we don´t have the capacity to comprehend the acts of the people that supposedly are on the same level of consciousness that us, or an inferiors one, even less we could judge the being that possess a superior level of consciousness.

Let's reflect about the follow:

We don't know ourselves

We project our own psychological defects in the other persons

We judge external appearances

Such actions don't truly match with the judge we issue

Therefore we mistakenly judge the actions of others, we slander

The judge that we are emitting is truly the same psychological defect that we have projected upon the neighbor.
